ABOUT
I am an Associate Professor (with tenure) at Universidad de los Andes School of Management - UASM (Bogotá, Colombia). At UASM, I have directed the School's Research Committee from July 2024 to July 2026 and the PhD Program in Management between July 2022 and June 2024.
I am an economist interested in the economics, management and strategy of innovation and technological change. I analyze data on patents, technology performance, industry output and firm-level surveys to analyze the rate and direction of technological innovation, understand its drivers and effects on the economy and study sources of firms' heterogeneity in R&D returns. I am also interested in studying how to stimulate innovation by applying specific decision-making methods and tools that can help decision-makers to manage the uncertainty intrinsic to ambitious innovation and entrepreneurship projects and increase the probability of success. This is particularly important for firms located in emerging economies.
I have a PhD in Economics and Policy Studies of Technological Change from UNU-MERIT and Maastricht University (the Netherlands). I did a postdoc at the Institute for Data, Systems, and Society (IDSS) of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and another one at Singapore University of Technology and Design.
